Ode to my littlest...

peaches and cream skin so doux
strawberry blonde, big baby blues.

screw-on hands
screw-on feet
dimples and "deux dents"
thighs and cheeks.

orangutan walking
gosling fuzz crazy hair
tempers and tantrums
Divas BEWARE!

beach bunnies to snowflakes
my how the time flies
when I'm trapped
in the depths of my
baby girl's eyes.

It's been hard
all these firsts
of the whole passing year
because all of these firsts
are MY lasts
I do fear.

So although I do know
in my head you must grow,
tell that to my
breaking heart.

For this my darling
I whisper to you,
I wanted to keep you small
from the start.
